Nomadic Cooling X3 Helix 12 V – Roof-Mounted DC Air Conditioner

The Nomadic Cooling X3 Helix 12 V is a high-performance roof-mounted DC air conditioner designed for motorhomes, larger campervans, expedition vehicles and off-road conversions. It has been developed to provide powerful off-grid cooling without requiring a campsite hook-up or generator.

The air conditioner operates from a 12 V DC system, allowing it to be powered directly from the vehicle’s onboard electrical installation. It is a practical solution for off-grid travellers who require efficient cooling while parked, camping or travelling for extended periods in high temperatures.

The X3 Helix uses a PWM-controlled compressor and refined operating logic, allowing it to approach the selected temperature smoothly and maintain it consistently. This helps reduce strain on the batteries and improves comfort during extended off-grid operation.

The Helix system provides convenient air conditioner management, including scenes, schedules and remote control from a phone, tablet or smartwatch. This makes it possible, for example, to cool the vehicle interior before returning to it.

The high-humidity mode helps remove heavy, humid air more quickly after showering, when parked near water or in coastal conditions. A sealed rear panel and waterproof automotive-grade connectors protect the electronics from dust, moisture and dirt.

Inside the vehicle, the air conditioner features a slim powder-coated metal panel that provides a clean appearance and helps preserve headroom. Corrosion-resistant stainless steel mounting hardware is used externally.

The X3 Helix is designed for installation in a standard roof opening measuring approximately 35.6 × 35.6 cm. The product is available in two colours: Obsidian Black and Arctic White.
