A heavy-duty braking system for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, developed by Agile and Alcon!

The engineers and designers at Agile and Alcon spent many months developing a complete front and rear brake upgrade kit for the Sprinter.
As many Sprinter owners have experienced, the braking performance of the factory system leaves much to be desired, especially in heavier campervans.

Features:

  • Ductile cast-iron caliper bodies provide maximum strength and rigidity, together with excellent impact and fatigue resistance
  • Epoxy-acrylic paint applied over a zinc-acid coating provides maximum corrosion protection
  • Zinc-plated iron caliper components provide maximum resistance to corrosion
  • High-friction brake pads increase braking force
  • Military-grade, high-temperature seals and wipers prevent dirt ingress, while brake pad return springs provide optimum resistance to off-road wear and internally positioned bleed screws improve safety
  • Large two-piece brake discs — 13.5-inch Alcon discs at the front and 14-inch discs at the rear, compared with the factory 12-inch front and 11.75-inch rear discs — reduce disc temperatures and pad wear, increase braking torque and reduce pedal effort
  • The larger brake pad surface area reduces operating temperatures and extends pad service life
  • Suitable for wheels measuring 17 inches or larger
  • Designed to work with the factory Mercedes-Benz master cylinder and ABS system
  • Integrated offset correction for the RIP kit. No wheel spacers are required

The kit includes:

(2) Military-grade Alcon 6-piston front brake calipers
(2) Heavy-duty 13.5-inch Alcon two-piece front brake discs
(2) Alcon 4-piston rear brake calipers
(2) Heavy-duty 14-inch Alcon two-piece rear brake discs
(4) Stainless steel brake lines
(24) Wheel studs
(24) Spline-drive wheel nuts with installation key

Performance improvements compared with the standard braking system:

Up to a 3% reduction in disc temperature rise
Up to a 45% reduction in brake pad wear rate
Up to a 6% increase in available braking torque
Up to 6% less pedal effort

We frequently work with vehicles that are so heavy that, despite travelling at relatively low speeds, they may require up to 30 times more braking torque than racing cars. This requires calipers manufactured from cast iron rather than aluminium.

Even in a vehicle weighing tens of tonnes, it is essential that the braking system not only slows and stops the vehicle effectively but also supports the overall engineering objectives of the build.

Fitment notes:

AO Big Brake discs have a -16 mm offset compared with the factory brake discs.

Due to the wider wheel track after installation, wheel spacers are no longer required or recommended on vehicles equipped with the RIP kit.

This brake kit is not compatible with vehicles equipped with an electronic parking brake.
